86th Annual Academy Awards: Best Looks of the Night

Among the awards, selfies, speeches, and pizza party that took place at the Oscars this Sunday, there was the fashion. Some got it all wrong, and some played it safe, but then there were some that completely stunned. So, without further ado, here are some of our favorite looks from the 86th Annual Academy Awards.

1. Lupita Nyong'o in Prada

If you’re going to win an Oscar, this is what you should be wearing. Lupita Nyong’o completely blew us all away (pun intended) with this stunning Prada dress that “reminds me of Nairobi,” as she described it to Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet. The dress looked absolutely breathtaking against her radiant skin and we can’t stop obsessing over the adorable touch of the headband. Ultimate Cinderella moment.

2. Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

Another favorite of the night was Jennifer Lawrence in Dior. Not unlike last year, she decided to stick with the backwards necklace trend, but opted for a more grown up choice when it came to the dress. Nevertheless, our favorite Jennifer Lawrence moment was when she fell (yet again) on the red carpet and then totally laughed it off, reminding us why we all love her so much.

3. Kate Hudson in Atelier Versace

She wasn’t even up for an award this year, but Kate Hudson completely outshined many of the nominated stars at the Oscars. She rendered old Hollywood allure in this neck plunging Atelier Versace gown, complete with shoulder pads and its own cape. Kate Hudson is always a triumph on the red carpet, but she might have just outdone herself with this number!

4. Sandra Bullock in Alexander McQueen

We all thought Sandra Bullock couldn’t possibly do better than the Marchesa dress she wore whens she won at the 2010 Oscars, but then she goes and wears this gorgeous Alexander McQueen gown, and completely stomps all over that dress. From the part sided hair and minimal jewelry to the draping of the gown, there is nothing about this look that is anything but perfection. Even though she may not have won for her role in Gravity, she definitely won us all over for best dressed.

5. Olivia Wilde in Valentino

Shout out to Olivia Wilde for being the best-dressed pregnant woman ever. Ladies may not feel like their best when pregnant, which is why I admire Olivia for completely owning it on the red carpet this award season. Even with a protruding belly, she did not shy away from showing a little bit of skin with an open back detail and strip of white along the train. With simple black and white jewelry and matching purse, this look is flawless. Bonus points for pockets!

6. Amy Adams in Gucci

Ideally, there really isn’t anything not to like about this look. The hair is perfect, the earrings are beautiful, and that dress is so elegant. Yet, at the same time, it’s all just kind of ehhh. After Amy Adam’s had such a great fashion run this awards season, she was one of our most anticipated stars of the carpet. Yet, she chose to play it simple in this dress by Gucci. No question, the gown is gorgeous, but we were expecting a little more from Amy.
